The School of Groove is hosting a Rock and Roll Petting Zoo for children of all ages on Saturday, November 10, from 1 to 2pm. The free event will take place at the new Cambridge Performing Arts Center, located at 535 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA 02141.
Children and parents will get up close and personal with the instruments they hear on the radio and see played on stage. Faculty from the School of Groove will perform and demonstrate several different instruments. Then students will get a chance to touch, blow, pluck, bow, and strike as much as they want. After the event, participants will receive free trial lessons on their instrument of choice.
Professional musicians and teachers agree that this preliminary exposure and contact with actual instruments helps increase the likelihood that the student will choose the instrument that will best enable them to have a long-term positive musical experience.
